Does Navigation Mean More Water for the Big River?
|
A lot of folks assume restoring navigation automatically means more water for the Apalachicola. It doesn’t. But it can mean better water at the right times and real fixes to old Corps damage. Only if we stay involved will the final plan reflect Florida’s needs.

Football Preview: Blountstown Tigers vs. Madison County Cowboys
|
Friday evening under the lights in Blountstown promises to be electric as the Tigers, riding a perfect 10–0 record and backed by a dominant rushing attack averaging over 300 yards per game, welcome the Cowboys, who bring a spirited 6–5 mark and a strong road-win streak into town. The Tigers (ranked 42nd in Florida) will aim to exorcise last year’s 43–6 loss to the Cowboys and keep their home-winning streak alive — but Madison County’s balanced offense and opportunistic defense mean nothing will come easy. The Hidden Work of Mycorrhizal Fungi in Agriculture and Forests
In the quiet world beneath our feet, billions of tiny fungal threads are hard at work — and their impact is far greater than most of us realize. A recent study by UF/IFAS reveals how mycorrhizal fungi, the hidden partners of plants, play a vital role in both agricultural fields and forest ecosystems. These fungi form mutually beneficial relationships with plant roots, improving nutrient uptake, boosting soil structure, and helping crops and trees resist stress. The research underscores that the choices we make above ground — like tillage, fertilizer use, and fungicide application — affect far more than just the visible plants. They also influence these indispensable underground networks. Read More>>>

Mission Rooted in Dignity
Grey to Glory Home Health was founded with a simple but powerful belief: every senior is deserving of honor, dignity, and compassionate care. Their name reflects that calling—seeing the “grey” years of life not as decline but as a season crowned with glory.
Locally owned and operated, Grey to Glory blends skilled clinical care with a heart for ministry, ensuring seniors receive both expert support and genuine human connection.
What They Provide
Grey to Glory delivers personalized in-home medical care, allowing patients to remain safe, comfortable, and independent within their own homes.
Their services include:
Skilled nursing
Wound care & wound-vac management
Infusion therapy
Urinary catheter care
Medication management and caregiver teaching
Chronic disease education (CHF, COPD, diabetes, and more)
Post-surgical therapy and rehabilitation
Dementia-focused home programs
Each care plan is created with the patient, their physician, and family—so everyone moves forward with clarity and confidence.

Where Business Meets Ministry
What truly sets Grey to Glory apart is the nonprofit arm they support through their business: Grey to Glory, Inc.
This charitable extension reaches seniors who need more than medical care. It provides:
Fresh Meal Delivery
Hot, home-cooked meals brought to elderly neighbors who may have little family support.
Home & Yard Assistance
Cleaning, light yardwork, and practical help—often delivered with the assistance of volunteers and local partner programs.
Free Medical Equipment & Supplies
Walkers, wheelchairs, adult diapers, wipes, and other essentials made available to those in need.
The Little Miss Traveling Nail Salon
A precious intergenerational outreach where young girls visit homebound elderly women, offering manicures and companionship.
Future Plans
Ramp building for accessibility, respite care for dementia caregivers, and expanded non-skilled in-home support.
Why They Matter
Grey to Glory fills a gap in rural communities where services can be limited. They offer:
High-level clinical care delivered with compassion
Extra-mile service rooted in faith
Programs that support not just the patient—but their quality of life
A model where business success fuels community generosity
For many families, they are not just caregivers—they’re a lifeline.

Say Hello to Bullwinkle!!
|
Say hello to Bullwinkle, a nice handsome 4 month-old male American Bulldog mixed puppy. He is a fun and friendly boy. He currently weighs around 25-30 pounds. Bullwinkle is the perfect mix of fun, curiosity, and playfulness. He loves exploring the world around him — whether it’s chasing other dogs in the yard, meeting new friends, or snuggling up for a nap after a big adventure. He is a true "people dog" who thrives on human companionship and is eager to be a part of your family's adventures.
True to his bulldog roots, Bullwinkle is food-motivated, eager to please, and great on a leash. He’s doing great with crate training and potty training, and he’s always excited to show off how clever he is (especially if treats are involved!).
True to his bulldog heritage, he possesses a natural protective instinct and is very loyal to his family, serving as a vigilant watchdog who will alert you to anything unusual. With proper, early socialization, he is generally welcoming to new people and can get along well with other pets.
Bullwinkle has a heart as big as his muscular build! He is known for his affectionate temperament and gets along wonderfully with people, kids, and other dogs. He’s still young and learning his manners, but he’s full of potential and ready to grow into a loyal, loving companion.
If you’re looking for a joyful, loyal pup to join your family and fill your days with laughter, love, and puppy kisses — Bullwinkle might just be your perfect match. You can apply for him at northfloridarescue.com. Bullwinkle's adoption fee is $350. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all of his shots.
