"Doing It Right This Time"

Five counties along the Apalachicola River have now passed resolutions calling for the Corps of Engineers to restore navigation — but not the destructive dredging that scarred the river decades ago. Their message is clear: if the Corps wants to reopen the river, it must do it right this time.

Light pollution isn’t just a loss for star‐gazers

Ever notice how rare a truly dark night has become? UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County reminds us that good lighting habits—like dimming porch lights, using motion sensors, and choosing amber bulbs—help wildlife and bring the stars back home. Say hello to Wednesday, a nice calm 4-month-old yellow Lab puppy with a heart as golden as her coat! She weighs around 20–25 pounds. Wednesday is the perfect mix of sweetness, curiosity, and playfulness. She loves exploring the world around her — whether it’s chasing leaves in the yard, meeting new friends, or snuggling up for a nap after a big adventure.

True to her Labrador roots, Wednesday is food-motivated, eager to please, and great on a leash. She’s doing great with crate training and potty training, and she’s always excited to show off how clever she is (especially if treats are involved!).

Wednesday has a gentle, affectionate temperament and gets along wonderfully with people, kids, and other dogs. She’s still young and learning her manners, but she’s full of potential and ready to grow into a loyal, loving companion.

If you’re looking for a joyful, loyal pup to join your family and fill your days with laughter, love, and puppy kisses — Wednesday might just be your perfect match. You can apply for her at northfloridarescue.com.  Wednesday’s adoption fee is $350. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her shots.
