|
The Corps of Engineers is once again working on a plan to manage the Apalachicola River for navigation. That has reopened an old debate — should dredging be allowed to resume after more than twenty years? Some say it should never happen again. Others remember when barges ran regularly and the river seemed healthier. The truth, as usual, is somewhere in between.

Sassi Frass Boutique: Hometown Charm Meets Fashion Forward
Nestled in the heart of Bristol—your friendly one-red-light town—Sassi Frass Boutique isn’t just a place to shop; it’s a community gathering spot where style meets warmth. Founded by local retail veteran Jennifer Young, Sassi Frass brings 36 years of retail experience and a big-town feel to a small-town setting.
The Heart & Vision
Jennifer’s passion isn’t just for the latest trends—it’s for helping customers feel confident, connected, and comfortable in their own skin. She sees fashion as “more than just clothing,” but rather as a vehicle for confidence and community.
Joining Jennifer in the venture is her longtime friend and co-owner, Desiree, a full-time trauma nurse who brings care, community-minded spirit, and stylish sensibility to the boutique.
The boutique also features a mascot—“Ella” the furbaby—who participates in social media fun and helps to reinforce that this is a store with personality and personal touches.
What Makes It Stand Out
Local Roots & Familiar Atmosphere: Right in Bristol at 10659 State Rd. 20, the store invites you in with a homey, friendly vibe—“shopping like family,” as they say.
|
|
Curated Style: Trend-aware clothing and accessories selected with care. You’ll find pieces that feel current yet approachable.
Service & Connection: The owners themselves engage with customers—even modeling and sharing via social media (@sassifrassboutiquegirl) to show how pieces can work in real life.
Flexibility: Whether you walk in or shop online, Sassi Frass keeps things convenient: daily shipping, options for Sezzle, AfterPay & ShopPay.
Why It Matters to the Chipola-Valley Community
In a region where supporting local, small-business owners is part of the fabric of community life, Sassi Frass is a fine example of entrepreneurship with heart. It offers more than products—it offers relationships, familiar faces, and a style destination that doesn’t require heading far. For readers of The River Ledger who value the inter-connections of community life and personal investment, Sassi Frass is a business you can feel good supporting.

Say hello to Hazel, a nice beautiful 6-7 month-old female Lab/American Bulldog mixed puppy. She is a fun and friendly girl. She weighs around 55-60 pounds. Hazel is the perfect mix of fun, curiosity, and playfulness. She loves exploring the world around her — whether it’s chasing other dogs in the yard, meeting new friends, or snuggling up for a nap after a big adventure. She is a true "people dog" who thrives on human companionship and is eager to be a part of your family's adventures.
True to her Labrador roots, Hazel is food-motivated, eager to please, and great on a leash. She’s doing great with crate training and potty training, and she’s always excited to show off how clever she is (especially if treats are involved!).
True to her bulldog heritage, she possesses a natural protective instinct and is very loyal to her family, serving as a vigilant watchdog who will alert you to anything unusual. With proper, early socialization, she is generally welcoming to new people and can get along well with other pets.
Hazel has a heart as big as her muscular build! She is known for her affectionate temperament and gets along wonderfully with people, kids, and other dogs. She’s still young and learning her manners, but she’s full of potential and ready to grow into a loyal, loving companion.
If you’re looking for a joyful, loyal pup to join your family and fill your days with laughter, love, and puppy kisses — Hazel might just be your perfect match. You can apply for her at northfloridarescue.com. Hazel's adoption fee is $350. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all of her shots.
